IPPA

An Industry Benchmark

The IPPA trade association has been formed by a dedicated group of property professionals concerned about the future of the Home Information Pack and the independent HIP provider.

In a market seemingly dominated by national HIP 'corporations', with their remote call centres, and ‘conveyor belt’ service models, IPPA recognises the real benefits, knowledge and service that a locally based independent HIP provider can bring to the process.  To that end IPPA have instigated a stiff barrier to membership, which involves auditing the Home Information Packs, procedures and trading practices of prospective members.  We also have a strict Code of Conduct and carry out continuous monitoring of our members. These, along with the valuable business resources we offer members, mean the industry client or consumer can be assured of a quality, compliant HIP and outstanding service.

We are determined to enhance the Home Information Pack and promote local independent pack providers as key professionals in HIP production

 We will do this by:

    • High entry levels and continuous monitoring
    • Adhering to a rigorous Code of Practice and Service Standards
    • Continuous member training and development
    • Links with other industry organisations
    • Participation in Government consultations
    • Promotion of our brand and quality standards

The provision of Home Information Packs is fundamentally linked to the allied businesses of local search providers, solicitors and estate agents, where local knowledge and experience is vital. Our members are focused on delivering Home Information Packs that actually do what they were put in place to do - speed up the transaction times involved in the home-moving process.

IPPA - giving local pack providers a national voice

Since the HIP regulations were introduced it has been very disappointing to see some of the largest Home Information Pack Providers flouting the regulations under the existing self-regulation framework.  We have also been dismayed by some of the Government decisions - or lack of decisive action.   We are expressing our concerns at the highest levels and will maintain the pressure to improve the standards.  IPPA has already started lobbying the CLG (Communities and Local Government), regarding the need to enforce the Home Information Pack Regulations fully. This will ensure that the marketing of a property is dependent on the HIP being prepared, which is where the flexible and timely delivery service of the local independent HIP provider will be a great advantage.

Independent Pack Providers have not previously had a voice and so we have not been heard…until now. IPPA intend to push CLG to not only adopt HIP regulations fully and ensure they are fully implemented and enforced, but also to improve the HIP and allow it to add ever more value to the house buying process.

Our Agenda:

* Recognises the value of local independent pack providers and local Energy Assessors
* Is biased towards the consumer, not corporate or political interests
* Has real and tangible improvements for all aspects of the property buying and selling process at its heart.

That is why we urge all independent Pack Providers to join IPPA, a member led trade association working in the best interests of the industry and the public.
